Clackmannanshire's Mental Health Crisis Needs Urgent Investment — Collier
Mike Collier has raised the issue of mental health provision in Clackmannanshire after data from the local community link worker service showed that four of the top ten reasons for referrals were related to mental health, social isolation, and general wellbeing concerns. The Clackmannanshire and Stirling Community Link Worker 'Growing Together' Report 2024/25 highlights a substantial and growing demand for mental health and wellbeing support across the constituency. 'The figures show that mental health and social isolation are among the most pressing challenges facing communities in Clackmannanshire,' said Mr Collier. 'This is not a fringe issue — it is a widespread reality affecting families across Alloa, the Hillfoots, and beyond.' He called for increased investment in mental health services by NHS Forth Valley, including expanded community psychology provision, more clinical psychology appointments, and better-resourced community link worker services. He also called for investment in social activities and facilities that help combat isolation, particularly for older residents and young people. 'Reform UK understands that physical health and mental health are inseparable. We will invest in both — and we will make sure that communities in Clackmannanshire have the services they need to support the whole person.'
