Clackmannanshire And Dunblane

I am a local businessman, not a career politician. I run a domiciliary care business supporting vulnerable residents and creating local jobs. I will campaign for social care reform, lower taxes for working families, and more opportunities for young people across Clackmannanshire and Dunblane.

Background

I am not a career politician, I am a businessman who understands the real challenges families face every day. Together with my wife we operate a domiciliary care business that supports some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Our hard working and trained staff help older people live independently in the comfort of their own homes, maintaining dignity, independence, and quality of life. We have created meaningful jobs for people who care deeply about supporting others. For far too long we have heard career politicians talk about how the care sector is broken and needs reform, yet we have still to see any meaningful changes. I will bring real passion and determination to ensure the hard-working carers and the people who need their support have a strong voice to try and make a difference which is so badly needed. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the pressures facing both families and small businesses. I know how difficult it can be to build a business, employ staff, and navigate the systems that should support communities but often fall short. I believe that governments should work with local people and businesses, not against them. Given the support and changes required to ensure greater financial sustainability, and the ability to attract suitable workers we could potentially open a new branch and create a further 50 jobs throughout the constituency.

Why I'm Standing

If elected, I will be a strong voice for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane. I am committed to tackling the issues that matter most: creating opportunities for good local jobs, supporting families who are struggling with the cost of living, and ensuring that older residents receive the care and respect they deserve. I will fiercely challenge the status quo and demand better outcomes for the constituency. Most importantly, I will listen. I believe that representation should mean being visible, accessible, and accountable to the people who elected you. On the doorsteps all I hear people telling me is that they are fed up of politicians from all parties, the trust in them is at an all time low. Clackmannanshire is full of hardworking people, strong communities, and enormous potential. But potential alone is not enough. The "wee county" needs leadership that is focused on delivering real improvements for local people. After 15 years of the same representation, delivering the same poor outcomes, it is time for a fresh approach. My Three Priorities for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane 1. NHS Addressing the root cause of many problems facing the NHS by effecting meaningful change to the social care sector. Having run a care business I have seen first hand how a broken social care system creates a knock-on effect right through to our hospitals and GP services. Carers are undervalued and underpaid, people are waiting too long for support, and the NHS is left to pick up the pieces. I will be a fierce advocate for real social care reform so that our NHS can do what it was meant to do. 2. Cost of Living Crisis Tax cuts for working people and reduced energy bills by scrapping net zero. Families in Clackmannanshire are struggling. Energy bills are too high, taxes are too high and working people feel like the system is working against them. Scotland is now the most heavily taxed part of the United Kingdom. I believe in cutting taxes for ordinary working people and scrapping the ideologically driven net zero agenda that has pushed energy costs through the roof. People deserve to keep more of what they earn. 3. Tackling Local Issues Youth unemployment, child poverty and economic inactivity are all worse than average in Clackmannanshire under the SNP. Our young people deserve better opportunities. Too many adults are locked out of the jobs market. Too many children are growing up in poverty. These problems have got worse, not better, under 15 years of SNP representation. I will relentlessly push for local job creation, investment in skills and apprenticeships, and real economic policies that put Clackmannanshire back to work.
