Collier Fights to Secure Future of Forth Valley College's Alloa Campus
Mike Collier has raised the issue of Forth Valley College's Alloa Campus at a series of community meetings, calling for a firm commitment from the college and the Scottish Funding Council that further education will continue to be available to students in Clackmannanshire. Questions have been raised about the campus's future beyond 2026/27, with uncertainty over long-term plans raising concerns among students, staff, and parents across the constituency. 'Further education at Alloa is not a luxury — it is a vital lifeline for young people in Clackmannanshire who want to build skills and progress without having to travel to Stirling or Falkirk,' said Mr Collier. 'Losing the Alloa Campus would be a blow to the Wee County's young people and to its economic future.' He called for the Scottish Parliament's Education Committee to examine the issue and called on the Scottish Funding Council to provide clear guarantees about the long-term viability of college provision in the constituency. He also called for investment in the Alloa campus's facilities to ensure it can deliver modern, relevant courses that connect students to employment in the local and regional economy. 'Reform UK will make it a priority to protect and invest in further education provision in Clackmannanshire. Our young people deserve local opportunities.'
