Ochils Heritage Tourism Can Drive Growth Across the Constituency — Collier
Mike Collier has called for greater investment in the tourism potential of the constituency's outstanding natural and heritage assets, including Castle Campbell near Dollar — one of Scotland's most dramatic castle locations — the Ochil Hills, and the picturesque Hillfoots villages. Castle Campbell, a historic fortification perched above Dollar Glen with sweeping views across the Forth Valley, is managed by Historic Environment Scotland and is one of the most visited heritage sites in central Scotland. The surrounding Ochil Hills provide excellent walking, cycling, and outdoor recreation opportunities enjoyed by visitors from across the central belt. 'We have one of Scotland's great castle locations right here in Dollar, and a range of incredible walking in the Ochils,' said Mr Collier. 'Yet visitor numbers could be much higher with better marketing, improved facilities, and stronger connections to the wider central Scotland tourism offer.' He called for a Hillfoots tourism strategy linking Castle Campbell, Dollar, Tillicoultry, and Alva Glen into a coherent visitor experience, with improved signage and marketing. He also praised the work of local outdoor groups in maintaining walking routes and called for investment in trailhead facilities. 'Reform UK will back heritage and outdoor tourism as a route to sustainable economic growth for the Wee County.'
