Collier Calls for Targeted Investment in Alloa and Tullibody's Most Deprived Areas

Mike Collier has raised the issue of persistent deprivation in parts of Alloa and Tullibody, calling for targeted investment to address unemployment, poor health outcomes, and financial exclusion in communities that have faced significant challenges for many years. Parts of Alloa and Tullibody are among the most economically disadvantaged communities in central Scotland, with above-average rates of unemployment, low educational attainment, and poor health. Clackmannanshire as a whole has higher-than-average deprivation indicators for a council area of its size. 'There are communities in Alloa and Tullibody where people are genuinely struggling,' said Mr Collier. 'Families who cannot afford to heat their homes, young people without qualifications or job prospects, older residents isolated without access to banking or transport. These are real problems that need real solutions.' He called for a Clackmannanshire Regeneration Fund targeting the most deprived wards in Alloa and Tullibody, covering investment in employment and skills training, community facilities, digital access, and public transport. He also praised the council's decision — following public consultation — to keep Alva and Tullibody Community Access Points open, saying these facilities were essential lifelines for local residents. 'Reform UK will make sure that economic investment reaches the communities that need it most, not just the ones that are already thriving.'
